London in the Sky is an unforgettable dining experience in the clouds. Part of the Dinner in the Sky group operating in 63 countries, join other thrill-seekers to enjoy London’s iconic skyline whilst suspended 100ft in the air. I celebrated my thirtieth birthday with a morning Brunch experience in July 2021.

How to get there

You’ll need to head for the North Greenwich tube station as if you’re heading to the O2 arena, and you’ll see the London in the Sky experience directly in front of you as you exit the station – visible by the towering cranes.

The Flight

Your flight instructions request arrival sixty minutes before, however this time is merely used for a photo next to the foliage wall, to grab an early glass of champagne, and to check in your bags. On arrival, you’ll be fitted with a paper wristband letting you know if you’re on Table A or Table B and the planned time.

You’ll have time to sit in the bar and lounge to enjoy a drink, however, don’t be tempted to buy a large bottle before your flight, while you can take your drinks with you, you’ll be topped up frequently so save your money until after!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

At around 15 minutes before you’ll be asked to make your way to the table where you’re seated and secured in with three harnesses. The chairs are comfortable, and the harnesses are secure, however, you can swivel in your chair.

Once everyone is secured, the music starts playing and the table is raised to the height of 100ft where you remain for the 45 minutes of the flight.

Even at 10:30am the atmosphere was electric, celebrating 21^st birthdays, 30^th birthdays, 50^th birthdays and just simple girls’ day out our whole table was soon singing to Backstreet Boys and other classics – forgetting just how high we really were. The staff on board were great hosts, even sending around a wooden spoon to sing into!

The Food

The unique dining experience, you can choose from the following options;

• Sunday Sessions

We opted for brunch and were asked to make our food selection in advance from the following Brunch options;

• Braised Beef Brisket Bubble and Squeak, Braised Kale, Poached Egg, Tarragon Butter Sauce
• Breakfast Taco, Scrambled Egg, Smashed Avocado, Roasted Tomato Salsa, Crispy Onions & Bacon
• Plant-Based Taco, Smashed Avocado, Cannellini Bean Ragout, Saiga Spiced Sausage & Coriander

I opted for the breakfast taco, which was accompanied by mini Danishes, two glasses of prosecco, and a fresh smoothie. Vegan and gluten-free options are available for all of their menus and they can cater to most other dietary requirements as well.

Things to know

You can’t take any bags with you; they are safely stored in the bar before the flight. You are permitted to have your phone – just keep a good hold of it!

There is no floor beneath you, except for a small panel to rest your feet so slip-on shoes will be fine provided you keep your feet on this panel.

It can be a little chilly high up so I recommend bringing a jacket!
