Travelling to this bucket list destination, you're first Google search is likely to be 'Lake Bled Hotel'. But what if I told you that glamping is you're the best option when staying in Lake Bled - stick with me ok? You’re going to see why soon enough.
I visited Slovenia in Springtime, so if you're visiting during a time of blissful sunshine and beautiful blue skies - this is the place for you. Glamping is never really something I saw myself doing unless it was at Glastonbury, but the review for Lake Bled's Garden Village was so positive that it's not somewhere we could ignore. It was probably the on-site sauna that sold it to us - or maybe it was the fire pit? Either way, we took a leap of faith and here's how it paid off.
An Introduction to Garden Village Bled
Garden Village Bled is an entirely ecologically designed Lake Bled hotel, well actually a resort, in the heart of Lake Bled - 350 yards from the Lake to be exact.
Gather around the open fireplace at this Lake Bled hotel with a glass of red and a blanket at the end of the day.
Swim among the tadpoles at this Lake Bled hotel in the biotope or relax on the man-made beach.
How about dipping your toes in the pond at this Lake Bled hotel. Or feel the benefits of a waterfall massage. Take place in meditation, joga or treat yourself to a massage or use of the sauna. Find out what on earth Kneipp therapy is. Or have a tour around the apiary and greenhouse where they grow all of the fresh produce used in the restaurant.
It doesn't matter whether you're staying in a luxury apartment, a treehouse or a glamping tent - the experience will be entirely positive.
The Tent
I use the term glamping loosely since glamping implies you're still without some home comforts, and it never really felt that way here - despite the fact we were actually sleeping in a tent. We stayed in a pier tent to be exact - that was suspended over a stream and connected by wooden walkways in the trees. The tent was accessed by a small drawbridge and behind the tent, horses roamed free in the field behind.
The tent came equipped with lockable lugagge storage, a fridge, a safe, a heater and drinking water and glasses. Plus towels and wash products.
The tent had electrics, completely fitted with sockets and lamps.
As someone who gets cold very easily I never once felt a chill in the tent, and if the evening felt a little chilly we just used the heater that worked perfectly fine.
It also rained through the night a couple of times - but we were none the wiser.
Breakfast is included in the price, and features a wide variety of homemade butter, local made cheese and honey, meats, fruit, yoghurt, salad, pastries and juices.

Final Word
There are no faults we could find with this Lake Bled hotel - the price, the service, the amenities, it was all completely perfect.
On arrival to the accommodation, we were invited to take a complimentary snack and a drink overlooking the Biotope before shown to our pier tent.
On leaving, we were provided with a small jar of Slovenian honey as a parting gift.
The recweption team were fantastic, our travel adaptor stopped working during our stay and they managed to find one for us to use completely free of charge for the duration of our stay.
So whatever you thought about glamping, this place will completely change your mind.
A peaceful night sleep listening to the trickle of a stream and the trees in the wind - it's pure magic.
